givestar launches AI tool to help charities fix the Gen-Z Gift Aid gap

Next generation fundraising app givestar, has launched an AI tool to help charities recover Gift Aid they are already entitled to, without needing more staff, more time, or more specialist expertise.

Two-thirds of givestar’s donors are under 35, a significantly younger profile than the charity sector average, and this is the first time charities have had access to AI technology that specifically allows them to recoup unclaimed Gift Aid from younger givers.

Gift Aid can increase the value of eligible donations by 25 percent, yet hundreds of millions of pounds still go unclaimed each year. Sector research referenced by leading charity finance and tax bodies estimates that around £560m of Gift Aid is left unclaimed annually, often due to incomplete declarations, data gaps, and missed eligibility.

givestar’s Gift Aid AI Co-worker works alongside charity teams, scanning donation data to identify eligible donations, flag missed claims, and surface the revenue being left on the table. It is designed to enable people, not replace them, helping teams spend less time on admin and more time on fundraising and mission delivery.

Charities are missing out on Gift Aid revenue they are already entitled to as many donors forget to tick the box, do not realise they are eligible, or complete declarations incorrectly.

At the same time, stretched charity teams rarely have the time or tools to catch what has been missed, resulting in significant revenue left unclaimed, often without anyone knowing how much, and ultimately beneficiaries missing out on vital additional funds.

givestar’s AI can do the heavy lifting, scanning donation data, identifying eligible claims, and surfacing opportunities, while keeping relationships firmly with the people who know donors best.

Alex Coleridge, CEO and co-founder of givestar “Charities teams are already stretched thin and many simply do not have the capacity to reclaim the large sums of Gift Aid that they are eligible for.

“Small errors and missed declarations add up to significant lost income and beneficiaries ultimately suffer. givestar’s new AI tool will transform this process, doing the heavy lifting and helping charities to receive the correct amount of Gift Aid that is due to them.

“Our Gift Aid AI Co-worker is built to sit alongside charity teams, spot eligible donations, flag what has been missed, and reduce the admin burden, so more money reaches the frontline work donors really care about.”
